Well, after 9 months of preparation and 7 months of motherhood, I finally feel like Camila’s nursery is coming together! Back when I was pregnant the first part of the nursery we started creating was the closet. Considering I turned one of the bedrooms in our house into a walk-in closet for Brent and me this is no surprise! Yet, once Mila arrived and I started using the closet I realized things weren’t organized quite as efficiently as I would like. I also wasn’t crazy about some of the storage containers. So, after making a few changes I am finally happy with the finished nursery closet!
I failed to take any true “before” pictures of inside the closet (I blame pregnancy brain), but it basically looked exactly like the closet that I photographed in another room of our house. Thanks to my handy husband and a lot of inspiration from this beautiful nursery closet from one of my favorite bloggers, my vision for Camila’s baby closet was brought to life! We purchased all of the items for the DIY nursery closet either online or in local stores (the closet rails and shelves were from Lowe’s). This means you can easily recreate this DIY nursery closet yourself. Not only is it great for a baby’s room, but I’d love to redo the closet in our master bedroom using the same layout!
Originally I had the four sections of hanging clothes divided by size (newborn in top left corner, 0-3 months in top right, etc.) But, I realized I wasn’t happy with this layout because various baby brands fit differently. I changed it to be organized by item type and I’m much happier this way! I also had shoes, hats, and dolls sitting out on a shelf at first, but my obsession to organize and reduce clutter couldn’t handle it. These items are now in storage bins. As of right now, there are more than enough bins to hold everything including extra diapers, wipes, toys, blankets, extra clothes, baby carriers, and more.
I have tried to link as many of the items below as possible, but if there is something you don’t see linked and would like to know about feel free to comment below and I’d be happy to help! I have all of Camila’s onesies, pants and socks organized in her dresser and I’m hoping to share that organization on the blog soon!
