Our baby girl has been with us for half a year now…how is that even possible!? Month 6 started off a little rough when Mila came down with RSV the day before Thanksgiving. Luckily, it was a pretty mild case and didn’t require any intensive treatments or hospitalization. Once we got past that, the month was wonderful! Brent had some extra time off work, so we were able to spend more time as a family. We went to our church’s Christmas Bazaar, birthday parties, and spent a full day baking Christmas cookies with all of the girls in our family!

6 Month Old Baby Stats
Camila weighs around 13lbs 9oz and we will find out her length next week at the dreaded 6 month immunization appointment. She continues to follow her growth curve and gain, so I have been able to exclusively breastfeed her. We will be starting real food in January, when she reaches 6 months adjusted age. She is ready to switch to size 2 diapers (as soon as we run out of size 1, we can’t let those go to waste!) and is still in size 0-3 month clothing.

Camila Anne’s Favorite Things
As usual, Camila’s favorite things include books, bath time, tummy time, talking, singing, dancing, and teething toys. But, with each month seems to come new favorites! She is currently obsessed with this Montessori inspired book of Baby’s First Words. Grandma babysat her the other day and said she looked at it for 30 minutes! I will set it on the ground and she will look at it during tummy time while chatting away. She continues to love touching and feeling different textures and really loves touching and looking at faces (especially mama’s and her cousin Vayda’s!) She received an adorable Cuddle and Kind doll at our first Christmas last week and she already loves looking at its face! She also loves holding on to something while she is sleeping. We let her keep this breathable blanket in her crib to grasp on to during naps

6 Month Old Baby Milestones
Just this week Camila started to sit up on her own for very brief periods of time. Each day she is sitting up more and more! Because she has starting to discover sitting up, she now prefers this baby activity chair over her Baby Bjorn Bouncer Chair due to the sitting positions. She still hasn’t said “mama” or “dada”, but she absolutely loves hearing those words! Anytime I repeat “mama” or “dada” over and over again I always get the biggest smile. I like to think she knows what they mean!
Camila has also become extremely interested in the world around her. She loves looking around and observing new places. This can make nursing her quite a challenge! She is constantly starting and stopping to look around or look at me and smile. And if there are other people in the room, getting her to eat a full feed is almost impossible! She also loves blowing “raspberries” or bubbles and enjoys when others do this on her tummy. Surprisingly, I get the most giggles when we’re changing her diaper or clothes and playing on our Hatch Baby Changing Pad. I’m guessing this phase won’t last long and soon she will be fighting me during these times!

6 Month Old Baby Schedule
We start most days around 6:00 AM. Camila typically nurses every 3-3 1/2 hours during the day. Sleep….what is sleep? I will just say our sleep situation hasn’t changed. She still takes two crib naps a day that typically last 30-40 minutes, one nap in my Ergo Baby Carrier or Solly Baby Wrap that lasts 1 1/2-2 hours on good days. She also still only sleeps 30-45 minutes during the night unless she is being held. One day she has to sleep….right!?

Looking Forward To….
Christmas Eve! Brent will be off work, so we will get to spend the morning together at home. I’m hoping to bake up some goodies to start a tradition and I’ll be carrying on our family’s tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve (pajamas and a book!) We will head to Brent’s family event in the afternoon and then go to my huge family event (over 100 people!) that night.
Christmas Day! I’m so excited for our first Christmas as a family of three! We will spend the morning together at home opening gifts, eating a yummy breakfast, and cuddling. We will go to Brent’s parents’ house in the late morning and then head to my parents’ house in the afternoon.
New Year’s Eve & Day! Brent has to work on New Year’s Eve and we plan on spending the night together at home. Since I still can’t eat dairy or soy, eating out options nearby are very limited, so we’re going to make a delicious dinner instead. He does have New Year’s Day off work and I can’t wait to spend the day relaxing and marathoning “How I Met Your Mother” (we’ve been trying to get through this show since I was 6 months pregnant!)
Introducing Solid Foods! As I stated previously, we will begin introducing solid foods when Camila reaches 6 months adjusted age at the beginning of January. I plan on doing baby-led weaning and I’m excited to see how it goes! Hopefully she enjoys eating real foods!
As always, thanks for following along! Happy holidays to everyone from the Mason family!
